The legacy of the Elliott family

From train rides to Laredo as a boy to leading a revered family cattle ranch across Texas and New Mexico, Albert “Tex” Elliott’s life was steeped in tradition, grit, and deep love for the land and people around him. Nicknamed by his grandmother, Tex found his purpose early on, working summers alongside his grandfather, “Daddy-Grande,” on the Espejo Ranch. His passion for ranching only grew as he and his wife, Jan, built a life together rooted in family, faith, and cowboy values.

From raising six children on a remote New Mexico ranch with no electricity, to embodying the very essence of neighborly ranching life, Tex's story is as rich as the land he loved. A man of strong character and impeccable manners, Tex passed down his values through generations, touching lives far beyond his family.

His final farewell, “Tex’s Last Ride,” was a tribute as iconic as the man himself—cowboys riding in his honor, boots backward in the stirrups, and a community united in remembrance.
