Hal and Karin Buxton: A Life of Resilience and Adventure in the Texas Hill Country
For the past 27 years, Hal and Karin Buxton have called a scenic lakeside property near Bandera their home, embracing the peace and beauty of the Texas Hill Country. Hal, a retired Air Force fighter pilot, and Karin, originally from Norway, have built a life rooted in their love for the outdoors and ranching. Hal’s incredible journey included flying over 7,000 hours and overcoming a challenging battle with polio early in his career. His determination and resilience, embodied in his "damn the torpedoes" attitude, have carried through into his post-retirement life.
The couple now raises various animals on their ranch, including a newly started longhorn herd, and enjoys projects like carving roads through rugged land. Hal, at 87, continues to stay active with his ranching endeavors, maintaining a hands-on approach to life. Their lifestyle reflects a deep connection to nature and the land, with Hal expressing his contentment in staying busy on his ranch.
