For over 50 years Uvalco Supply has been focused on a principle of continuous improvement. Our Grandote feeders are a reflection of this credo….sometimes small steps make for big improvements. Take for example the color – galvanized steel. To be perfectly honest, the deer or wild game don’t care if the feeders are galvanized or olive drab – they don’t know the difference. But you’ll notice the difference when you compare the benefits to other feeders.
What’s all the fuss about?
The darker colored painted deer feeders typically found on the market today absorb significantly more heat which can adversely affect the quality of protein or corn in the feeder container. As an alternative, for our large feeders we use a galvanized container and paint the legs, braces and 4-way feeder tubes in a light gray color to match. Other than the color white, this is the best reflectant of sun light and heat and best preserves the contents of your feeder. This feeder can be purchased with a 4-way tube bottom for feeding protein as well as a spinner for corn.
The reflecting nature of the galvanized surface reduces the internal temperature of the feeder by 10-15 degrees. Other than improved food quality, the lower temperatures produce less condensation and consequently less moisture. This helps reduce problems of feed coagulating and blocking the feeder tubes. Furthermore, having less moisture retards the onset of rust – making your feeder last longer.
Is bigger really better?
