What’s all the fuss about?

Deciding to fence your farm and ranch is a big decision, but if you’re planning on raising cattle, goats, sheep or managing deer fencing is a must. It is a major undertaking that can be confusing. Jargon like 1047-6-12 ½ or 1047-12-12 ½; do I use class I, high-tensile, class III; 8’ field fence or game fence; 939-12-12 ½ over 1047-6-12 1/2; fixed knot or hinge joint; triple galvanized and barbed-wire to the uninitiated can be overwhelming. Uvalco’s retail store, fabrication facility, and 25 acre yard is located where it all began…..in Uvalde, 70 miles west of San Antonio and in the heart of the South Texas ranching and farming region. Uvalde was named for a Spanish conquistador and one of the earliest settlements in the area was a Spanish mission. So perhaps it is no coincidence that here at Uvalco, we consider it our mission to provide the best in products and services when it comes to farm and ranch supplies.

Uvalco’s vast selection of inventory includes all the materials needed for any type of ranch fence project – including structural pipe of any size for corner and line posts, net wire, barb wire, game-proof fence, T-posts, gates, cattle panels, etc. – additionally we maintain a fabrication shop on site where we build stock and custom metal gates and cattle guards and whatever else our customers might develop a need for.

Is one fence better then another?

You bet! But the decision on which fence is better all depends on the application. Carbon steel 2-point, 5 strand, barb wire might be great for cattle but won’t do much to keep wild game in and predators out. On the other hand 8 foot, class III, triple galvanized, fixed knot net wire fence would be money wasted on cattle but perfect for deer.
